Whole Body Prayer
After a near-orphaned boy growing up impoverished in Maoist China discovers he can heal people with his hands, he moves to the West, where the entire society is in need of healing.
After studying Qi Gong healing for decades in his native country China, Yan Ming Li took a chance in immigrating to the United States in the 1990’s. From there Mr. Li developed Whole Body Prayer, a meditation practice involving Qi to allow the practitioner to heal themselves of ailments in the process. Whole Body Prayer has since changed hundreds of lives. This film, and accompanying book series, documents Mr. Li’s journey, as well as shares his practice with the world. A documentary with reenactment, Whole Body Prayer is a journey that hopes to build a better world for all who interact with it.
Executive produced by CounterPoint Films, I worked as an intern on this project. I worked in marketing for the book release, assisted in story consulting in post-production, and assisted in finding and obtaining archival materials.
